Chili: Texas

Version 1 – with beans

Ingredients

  • 2 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 lb round steak, cut in small pieces
  • 56 oz tomato sauce
  • 15 oz can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 4 pkg chili seasoning mix
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 4 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp garlic pepper
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6 Jalapeños, chopped

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and round steak with onion and bell pepper, then drain the grease.
  2. Put all ingredients in a large pot and simmer for a couple hours or cook in a crock pot on low.
  3. Add water as necessary.

Version 2 – no beans

Ingredients

  • 3 lb lean ground beef
  • 14.5 oz can Rotél tomatoes
  • 2 pkg chili seasoning mix
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 small bell pepper, diced
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 4 Jalapeños, chopped
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Other seasonings to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef with onions and bell peppers, then drain the grease.
  2. Put all ingredients in a large pot and simmer for a couple hours or cook in a crock pot on low.
  3. Add water or tomato sauce as necessary.
