Oatmeal: Old-Fashioned (Rolled) Oats

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup oats
  • a couple dashes of cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup berries
  • 1/4 cup nuts
  • cover with water
  • Microwave for 90 seconds

Oatmeal Enhancers

  • Substitute water for various milks, juices or even coffee.
  • Add other ground spices such as cocoa, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc.
  • Add liquid extracts like vanilla, almond, pumpkin spice, etc.
  • Add any protein powders.
  • Add any type of seeds: chia, pumpkin, sunflower, hemp, etc.
  • Any any type of nut or nut butter.
  • Toast or roast the seeds or nuts for a different flavor.
  • Add any type of fresh, frozen, or dried fruits.
  • Add fruit butter; apple, pumpkin, etc.
  • Add regular or toasted shredded coconut.
  • Add any type of sweetener: sugar, honey, maple syrup, agave, hot chocolate, chocolate chips, etc.
  • Add some liquor: bourbon or a whiskey sauce, liqueurs, baileys, schnapps, etc.

Serving Swappers

  • Serve it cold.
  • Serve it in a glass. Add extra liquid and blend it.
  • Serve it as a bar. Add less liquid and bake it.
  • Serve it for dinner. Add savory items for a real treat.
