The Rusty Nail cocktail was invented in the 1930s in Birmingham, England. It held various names until the 1960s when Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra of the Rat Pack often drank this at 21 Club in New York City. The drink became so popular the parent company of Drambuie trademarked the name Rusty Nail. When and how the cocktail got the name is the subject of much lore. Early recipes favored a Scotch to Drambuie ratio of 4:1. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, use a 1:1 ratio.

  • 2 oz Drambuie liqueur
  • 2 oz Scotch
