  2. Add sugar and mix to dissolve.

  4. Store in fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
  5. If it smells off or gets cloudy, discard, as this is a sign of bacterial growth.

Simple Syrup Mix

  • 1 part white granulated sugar or raw cane sugar
  • 1 part water
  1. Microwave water for 2 to 3 minutes to bring it to a boil.
  2. Add sugar and mix to dissolve.
  3. Store in fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
  4. If it smells off or gets cloudy, discard, as this is a sign of bacterial growth.

Notes:

  • The 1:1 ratio provides a thin and light syrup that is quick for mixing cocktails.
  • Raw cane sugar is less refined, has a light brown color, and a subtle caramel taste.

Rich Simple Syrup Mix

  • 2 parts white granulated sugar or raw cane sugar
  • 1 part water
  1. Microwave water for 2 to 3 minutes to bring it to a boil.
  2. Add sugar and mix to dissolve.
  3. Store in fridge in an airtight container for up for several months as the higher sugar content inhibits bacterial growth.
  4. If it smells off or gets cloudy, discard, as this is a sign of bacterial growth.

Notes:

  • The 2:1 ratio provides a thick and viscous syrup that is rich and provides a better mouth feel without diluting cocktails. Great for an Old Fashioned.
  • Since it is sweeter, use about 2/3s of what you would for a recipe calling for simple syrup.
  • Raw cane sugar is less refined, has a light brown color, and a subtle caramel taste.
