Vieux Carré

Pronounced VOO-kar-A, this is a New Orleans French Quarter classic created in the 1930s. Literally translated; Old Square. 

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Bénédictine or Drambuie
  • 1 oz rye whiskey
  • 1 oz cognac
  1. Chill a coupe glass to serve “up” or a lowball glass to serve “on the rocks”. 
  2. In a mixing glass, add all ingredients.
  3. Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for 20-30 seconds until well-chilled and diluted.
  4. Strain into the coupe or lowball glass filled with ice.
  5. garnish with a lemon twist and cherry.
