Mint Julep

This cocktail began as a health elixir from the ancient Middle East. Over time, rose petals were replaced with mint and various spirits were used with Cognac being the most popular. In the early 1700s, bourbon replaced Cognac in Kentucky and became the staple for this cocktail.

  • 1/2 oz simple syrup 
  • 6 to 8 mint leaves
  • 2 oz bourbon
  1. Fill a highball glass with crushed ice.
  2. Shake ingredients with some ice.
  3. Pour into glass.
