The following ratio is the most reliable way to make a high-quality punch.
- 1 part sour: lime juice.
- 2 parts sweet: simple syrup and grenadine.
- 3 parts strong: 1 or more rums (traditionally dark or blends).
- 4 parts weak: water, tea, and/or tropical fruit juices (pineapple/orange).
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1.5 oz simple syrup
- 1/2 oz grenadine
- 2 oz dark rum
- 1 oz coconut rum or other flavor
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 2 oz orange juice
- Fill a hurricane glass with ice.
- Shake all ingredients with some ice.
- Strain into glass.
- Garnish with dash of nutmeg, maraschino cherry, and a lime wheel.
